UAB’s Black Students Board hosted a week-long series of events to celebrate Pan-Afrikan Week and finished off the week with their most popular event, The Stroll-off. Photo editor Kaydee Gawlik chose this photo as Photo of the Week because of the significance that the event has for the black community.

“The Stroll-off or step show is historically the ending event for Pan-Afrikan Week, bringing all the National Pan-Hellenic Council’s “Divine Nine” organizations together to compete for bragging rights and trophies,” Kaydee said.

“This photo comes straight from the camera of Nubian Photo Editor, Swathi Karthik, and features the winning sorority. The patterning, which seems to be a trend that I thoroughly enjoy this year, shows off how much work and time is put into each exhibition. ”
