WKNC featured on NC 40 Univision

Canto de Lobos, a Spanish-language music program that airs Sundays at 3 p.m. on WKNC 88.1 FM, was featured on WUVC Univision 40, North Carolina's first Spanish-language television station. Created in 2014 by Diego Cancel, a senior in environmental technology, the show is co-hosted by Cancel and Marc Celestini, a senior in computer and electrical engineering. The show's title translates as "song of wolves" in honor of NC State's mascot the wolfpack.

Gilbert added as speech communication textbook author

Speech Communication Theories and Practices textbook coverStudent Media Associate Director Jamie Lynn Gilbert has been added as an author to a public speaking textbook. The 10th edition of Speech Communication Theories and Practices, published by McGraw-Hill Education, is used by more than 200 students each semester at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. Gilbert revised the book's chapter on using web-based material for research and made source citation updates throughout the book.

Before coming to NC State, Gilbert taught introductory media and public speaking as an adjunct instructor at Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, Mich. Gilbert also has eight years of competitive forensics speaking experience and was a National Forensics Association semi-finalist in informative speaking and quarter-finalist in persuasive speaking in 2001.

WKNC to air special Diversity Education Week program

Eye on the Triangle logoWKNC's weekly public affairs show "Eye on the Triangle" will air a special Diversity Education Week themed episode on Tuesday, Oct. 13 as part of NC State's 6th Annual Diversity Education Week. The hour-long program will feature interviews about minority students and faculty at NC State, interviews with female faculty in underrepresented STEM majors, and other local news and features concerning diversity in education.

WKNC 88.1 FM will host an alleycat-style bike ride and scavenger hunt on Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Raleigh Arts Collective, 500 Royal St.
