WKNC leads sessions at CBI Minneapolis

WKNC students led three educational sessions at College Broadcasters, Inc.'s fourth annual National Student Electronic Media Convention Oct. 22-24, 2015 in Minneapolis. CBI Minneapolis featured more than 100 breakout sessions and brought 400 students, advisers/managers and professionals to Minneapolis for the three-day event.

CMJ 2015 College Radio Awards

It probably comes as no surprise to WKNC 88.1 FM's Raleigh-Durham fan base that the station received its third consecutive nomination as "Biggest Champion of the Local Scene" in College Music Journal's College Radio Awards. WKNC alumnae Bri Aab, who served as the station's 2013-2014 General Manager and now works as a promoter for Team Clermont, was also nominated for Promoter of the Year.

WKNC hosts November Fridays on the Lawn

WKNC's November 6 Fridays on the Lawn concertWKNC 88.1 FM will host the next installment of its "Fridays on the Lawn" concert series on Friday, November 6. The event will feature a distinctly pop feel, with performances by Chapel Hill's Sunshine Faces and Charlotte "post-internet emotive indie pop" quartet The Mineral Girls. The event begins at 5 p.m.

WKNC featured on NC 40 Univision

Canto de Lobos, a Spanish-language music program that airs Sundays at 3 p.m. on WKNC 88.1 FM, was featured on WUVC Univision 40, North Carolina's first Spanish-language television station. Created in 2014 by Diego Cancel, a senior in environmental technology, the show is co-hosted by Cancel and Marc Celestini, a senior in computer and electrical engineering. The show's title translates as "song of wolves" in honor of NC State's mascot the wolfpack.
