Student Media co-hosts Byron Pitts visit as part of 2016 MLK activities

Kai and PittsNC State Student Media partnered with the African American Cultural Center and others to host ABC “Nightline” co-anchor Byron Pitts on campus Monday, Jan. 11.

Pitts, a former correspondent for “60 Minutes” who has earned multiple national Emmy awards for his work, visited NC State as part of the university’s 2016 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.

Student Media organization leaders sought for 2016-2017

NC State Student Media has announced the timetable for selecting its top leaders for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Open positions include the top editors' positions at Technician, Agromeck, Nubian Message and Windhover, as well as the top manager positions at WKNC 88.1 FM and the Student Business and Marketing Office.

Gilbert appointed to CBI board

Jamie Lynn GilbertStudent Media Associate Director Jamie Lynn Gilbert was appointed to the College Broadcasters, Inc.'s board of directors for a one-year term as secretary, effective Dec. 1, 2015. 

"I am incredibly excited to rejoin the CBI board," Gilbert, who advises student radio station WKNC-FM at North Carolina State University, said. "Being a part of the CBI board was an incredibly rewarding experience and I look forward to again donating my time and talent to help student electronic media outlets across the country." Gilbert previously held the secretary role from 2008-2014.

WKNC leads sessions at CBI Minneapolis

WKNC students led three educational sessions at College Broadcasters, Inc.'s fourth annual National Student Electronic Media Convention Oct. 22-24, 2015 in Minneapolis. CBI Minneapolis featured more than 100 breakout sessions and brought 400 students, advisers/managers and professionals to Minneapolis for the three-day event.
