Gilbert promoted to associate director

Jamie Lynn GilbertNC State Student Media announces the promotion of Jamie Lynn Gilbert to Associate Director, effective June 1. Gilbert has served in the assistant coordinator/director role since May 2006. Gilbert handles assessment efforts for the department, including developing annual goals and measuring progress. She helps develop and manage a $900,000+ annual budget, makes monthly budget reports to the Student Media Board of Directors, maintains the Student Media e-store and updates the department's website. Gilbert also advises more than 100 students involved with WKNC 88.1 FM.

Dukes joins Student Media Board

Tyler DukesTyler Dukes, an investigative reporter with WRAL News in Raleigh, is the newest professional member of the Student Media Board of DirectorsDukes was previously a full-time employee of NC State Student Media, serving as Technician and Nubian Message's production assistant from 2010-2011. An NC State alumnus, Dukes was also Technician editor-in-chief in 2006-2007. 

WKNC places in design contest

WKNC Double Barrel Benefit 12 posterWKNC's promotional campaign for Double Barrel Benefit 12 placed third in an annual design contest hosted by the Edmund C. Arnold Chapter of the Society for News Design at Michigan State UniversityKaanchee Gandhi, a sophomore in graphic design, created the campaign, which consisted of full-size posters, newspaper ads, social media promotion and an event T-shirt.

Gilbert completes Pathways Leadership Development Program

Jamie Lynn Gilbert displays her Pathways Leadership Development Program certificates of completion.Student Media Assistant Director Jamie Lynn Gilbert was one of 20 employees across campus to complete the two-semester Pathways Leadership Development Program this spring. Based on Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner’s leadership principle: “Leadership development is self-development,” Pathways is a two-semester program designed to enhance interpersonal effectiveness and leadership propensity.
