Photo of the Week | April 6-10

Agromeck Co-Photo Editor, Chris Rupert said: This week’s photo of the week was taken by staff photographer John Joyner. To start off, John did a great job framing this photo. He placed the subject, who is facing right, in the left side of the frame. This gives the subject plenty of room and makes it seem like the disc could fly right across the frame. The tight cropping helps focus the reader’s attention on the offense and defense and helps reduce any distracting elements in the photo. Lastly, John made great use of the natural lighting available, which highlights both the subject and the disc.

Ryan did a great job covering the whole tournament but this photo really stands out of the bunch.  In sports photography; there are three types of shot that are critical to get, action, reaction, and emotion. Ryan did a good capturing all three in this photo. This photo tells the story of the game where N.C. State, the underdog, unexpectedly defeated number one seed Villanova.

Basketball provides plenty of opportunities to catch a player driving for a layup, but here John caught Trevor Lacey leaping toward the basket in a wide shot. Shooting wide in basketball isn’t as easy to do, but it works extremely well in this shot. Not only does if have great action, but it also has great…
