New and returning students admire the skills of performers, such as Annie Cunningham of Rolesville High School, at Packapalooza last Saturday. This week’s photo of the week is an homage to the many performances set up for the day-long event. Packapalooza, the University’s annual street fair, welcomes students and the community to NC State’s campus with food, performances, giveaways and a final performance by Parmalee at the Belltower. To hear more about this year’s event, make sure to grab your copy of the Agromeck here.
After the commotion and chaos of move-in weekend, new and returning students are finally settled into their on campus living spaces. This week’s photo of the week is a throwback to move-in weekend as students’ lives have changed so quickly over the course of a week. This photo, taken by photo editor Kaydee Gawlik, features university employees unloading the tram that helps students and families parking in Reynold’s Coliseum move their luggages to their new homes. This week’s photo of the week features sophomore Dillon Cooper throwing a ball to first base in the Raleigh Regional against Auburn Sunday, June 3 at Doak Field. This game ended resulted in a 15-7 loss and ended our run in the College World Series. To learn more about the results of the baseball season, visit NC State Athletics here.
This week’s photo of week features a character participating in Cosplay Chess at Animazement. Animazement is Raleigh’s annual Japanese animation and culture convention. In cosplay chess, cosplayers are assigned to be a chess piece during an improv game of chess, and are moved around by chessmasters. Photo editor Kaydee Gawlik selected this photo from Animazement because it shows the crossing over of fans and communities, and how individuals in those communities choose to interpret or represent the things that they enjoy.
When our leadership staff traveled to Bald Head Island for our leadership retreat given to us by Balfour, our adviser Martha Collins strongly encouraged Photo Editor Kaydee Gawlik to start experimenting with video for our social media and our website. Gawlik did just that, and created this short clip displaying what really goes on behind the scenes with the Agromeck staff: hard work and a little bit of chaos.
Almost a week has passed since the NC State class of 2018 turned the tassel on the next chapter of their lives. This shot of graduates from the College of Veterinary Medicine was taken by senior photographer Nick Faulkner, and was selected for Photo of the Week by photo editor Kaydee Gawlik. Gawlik selected this picture because it is a well-exposed photo that demonstrates a genuine interaction among peers who are celebrating the end of their struggles. Students looking to purchase photos from their graduation year can buy them here.

The theme of this year’s show was “Caesura: The Art of Interruption.”
