Windhover, Agromeck earn Silver Crowns
Two N.C. State Student Media publications won Crown awards at the Spring National College Media Convention March 10 in New York City. The 2012 Windhover, edited by Alanna Howard, received the College Magazine Silver Crown. The same edition earned a Pacemaker award and was first place Best of Show at the Fall 2012 National College Media Convention in Chicago. The Crown, presented by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, and the Associated Collegiate Press's Pacemaker are considered the national championships of college media.
A Silver Crown was also presented to the 2012 Agromeck, edited by Kathryn Glaser and Susannah Brinkley. The 2012 edition is among the Pacemaker finalists, with winners announced at the Fall 2013 National College Media Convention in New Orleans.
According to the CSPA, 1,344 digital, newspapers, magazines and yearbooks published during the 2011-2012 academic year were eligible for judging in the 2013 Crown Awards Program. No other North Carolina publications won Collegiate Crown awards. Publications were judged on writing/editing, design, content, concept, photography, art and graphics.
