Member Biographies

SCJ is an honor society for student journalists. All of its members are both accomplished students and contributors to one (or more!) of the five entities that make up N.C. State’s Student Media: Agromeck yearbook, Technician and Nubian Message newspapers, Windhover literary & arts magazine and WKNC radio station. Read more about each of the members below.

Officers
  • May F. Chung, a junior in English Education/ESL, is president of SCJ and a WKNC DJ. She joined SCJ in Spring 2009.
  • Meredith Faggart, a senior in psychology, is a Technician photographer and a WKNC DJ. She is the vice president of the N.C. State Chapter of SCJ. She joined SCJ in Spring 2009.
  • Kathryn Glaser, a sophomore in biological engineering, is the assignments editor of Agromeck and is secretary of SCJ. She joined SCJ in Spring 2010.
  • Alanna Howard, a sophomore in English, is a deputy news editor at Technician and is historian of SCJ. She joined SCJ in Spring 2010.

  • Tommy Anderson, a senior in political science, is the WKNC General Manager. He joined SCJ in Spring 2010.
  • Joanna Banegas, a sophomore in communication, writes for Agromeck. She joined SCJ in Fall 2010.
  • Susannah Brinkley, a junior in graphic design, is the design editor for Agromeck, N.C. State’s yearbook. She joined SCJ in Spring 2008.
  • Dreier Carr, a junior in computer and electrical engineering, is a senior photographer for N.C. State Student Media. Dreier is also the former photo editor for Technician. Dreier joined SCJ in Spring 2009.
  • Nathan Hardin, a senior in history, is the Technician news editor. He joined SCJ in Fall 2010.
  • Kieran Moreira, a senior in business administration, is the WKNC Program Director. He joined SCJ in Spring 2010.
  • Jeniece Jamison, a sophomore in communication, is a sports writer for Technician. She joined SCJ in Spring 2010.
  • Michael Jones, a sophomore in history, is a WKNC DJ. He was named a finalist for Best Radio DJ by the Independent Weekly, making him one of four WKNC DJs to be honored in the last five years. He joined SCJ in Fall 2010.
  • Brent Kitchen, a senior in mechanical engineering, is the Agromeck sports editor. He joined SCJ in Fall 2009.
  • David Mabe, a junior in computer engineering, is a Student Media photographer. He was Technician photo editor in Spring 2010. He joined SCJ in Fall 2009.
  • Lucia Moser, a sophomore in arts applications, is a WKNC DJ. She joined SCJ in Spring 2010.
  • Jessica Neville, a sophomore in biochemistry, is the Technician Science & Tech editor. She joined SCJ in Spring 2010.
  • Tim O’Brien, a junior in electrical engineering, is a Student Media photographer. He joined SCJ in Fall 2009.
  • Kate Shefte, a senior in English language, writing and rhetoric, is a copy editor for Agromeck. She was one of the Technician executive editors in Spring 2010. She joined SCJ in Fall 2010.
  • Joe Wright, a senior in civil engineering, is a WKNC DJ. He was editor of the Windhover literary & arts magazine in 2008-2009. He joined SCJ in Spring 2010.
  • Luis Zapata, a senior in industrial design, is a Student Media photographer. He was Technician photo editor in Fall 2009. He joined SCJ in Spring 2009.
  • Amanda Wilkins, a junior in horticultural science, is the Technician editor-in-chief.  She joined SCJ in Spring 2011.
  • Joshua Chappell, a freshman in microbiology and Spanish language + literature, is a senior staff writer for Technician and a writer for the Agromeck. He joined SCJ in spring 2011.
  • Chelsey Francis, a sophomore in agriculture education, is a Technician senior staff writer. She joined SCJ in Spring 2011.
  • Maris Akers, a sophomore in statistics, is the Agromeck Photo Editor. She joined SCJ in Spring 2011.
  • Drew St Claire, a senior in creative writing, is a WKNC DJ, writer for Technician and occasionally Windhover. He joined SCJ in Spring 2011.
